KINDERGARTEN TUTORING

Virtual Tutoring for Kindergartners

The Critical Thinking Child provides one-on-one virtual tutoring for kindergartners, building the foundational skills your child needs to succeed in school. Every student starts with a diagnostic assessment so their tutor knows exactly where to focus — and every session is tailored to your child’s pace and learning style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a 4 or 5 year old actually focus during a virtual session?

Yes. Our kindergarten sessions are 30 minutes — specifically designed for this age group’s attention span. Tutors use interactive activities, visual prompts, and engaging exercises to keep your child focused and learning. It’s not a lecture — it’s a conversation with hands-on participation.

Do I need to sit with my child during the session?

For the first session or two, we recommend a parent be nearby to help your child get comfortable with the format. After that, most children are confident working independently with their tutor. You’re always welcome to listen in, but you won’t need to manage the session.

My child can’t read yet — how does virtual tutoring work?

Our tutors are trained to work with pre-readers. Sessions use visual prompts, interactive whiteboard activities, verbal instruction, and hands-on exercises designed for children who are just beginning their reading journey. No reading ability is required to start.

How will I know my child is making progress?

Every student starts with a diagnostic assessment that establishes a baseline. You’ll receive regular progress reports tracking specific milestones like letter recognition, sight words, number fluency, and more. Your tutor also communicates directly with you about your child’s growth.

What device does my child need and what do I need to set up?

Your child needs a tablet or laptop with a camera and microphone, plus Zoom installed. A quiet space with a stable internet connection is ideal. That’s it — we handle everything else.

When are sessions available?

Sessions are available Monday through Saturday, during school hours, after school, and evenings. Daytime sessions are popular with homeschool families. We’ll match your child with a tutor who fits your family’s schedule.
